Goodbye (The Revolution, MLP Au)

The sun beat down on the brother and sister. Fletch hefted his satchel onto his back, trying to ignore his sister's pleading. The train roared into the station, proudly declaring it was under the Solar Empire. 

"Fletch, please. They'll kill you! You can't go to war, you're an earth pony, you can't fight against pegs and unicorns! Please!" 

"Orchid, enough!" Fletch finally cried, looking down at his pale sister, her eyes shining in the sun. This was why he had to go to war, for fillies like Orchid who would be stuck in the inky night and, like flowers, shrivel and die. "I won't fight with you...I have to leave." He pulled her close for a hug. "I love you, okay? Aunt Monarch will take care of you, just go to her house yeah?" Orchid was sobbing in earnest now. 

"I can't loose you too! Mom and Dad still haven't come back! Please!" 

"I'm sorry." Fletch turned, and boarded the train.
